We are thrilled to announce an open call for paintings, prints and photography, inspired by landscapes.

Interpret the subject - abstract, surreal, realist, urban, industrial - surprise us with your ideas and passion for capturing the essence of what a landscape means to you! We can't wait to see your submissions!


Submission requirements: 

Theme - Landscapes

The perimeter of your paintings, prints and photography must be no larger than 60 x 60 cm. 

If framed, the frame must fit within the 60 x 60 cm dimension requirements. 

You can submit a maximum of 3 works at £10 per work. 


All application forms must be returned to info@akafineart.co.uk as a PDF. Attach a separate jpeg image of your work(s) to the email for the selection process; these must be between 1 and 5 megabytes. Entry forms sent as Microsoft Word or Apple Pages will not be considered. 


Directors Choice Awards
AKA contemporary is dedicated to helping artists.

In recognition and support to applicants, the directors will award three Directors Choice Awards at £100 each.


(The directors choice is final, no discussion will be entered into over their decision.)

Applications must be submitted by 11:59pm on 26th October 2024. You will be informed of our decision on Saturday 16th November 2024. The days for delivering selected works will be 6th and 7th December 2024, between 11am and 5pm.



Terms and Conditions of Exhibition Entry and Sale of Your Work - Important please read before applying.
These Terms and Conditions apply to your entry of one or more (maximum three) artworks into AKA contemporary’s Winter exhibition and the facilitation of the sale of your work(s) by AKA contemporary either during or after the exhibition. 


The Winter exhibition will take place at AKA contemporary (The Studio 54a Cherry Hinton Road, Cambridge, CB1 7AA) between Friday 13th December 2024 and Saturday 1st March 2025. 


Please read the Terms and Conditions carefully before completing your Application Form as together these will form the contract between you and AKA Fine Art Ltd. By returning your Application Form, you are agreeing to these Terms and Conditions. 


Eligibility 

  • You may submit work(s) to the exhibition if you are the artist or creator of the work and are aged over 18. 
  • A maximum of three works may be submitted per artist. 
  • All works should adhere to the theme of Landscapes
  • Acceptable media: painting, drawings, original prints, photography. 
  • Works should be no larger than 60 cm in all dimensions.
  • If works are framed, the entire dimension of the work, including the frame, must be within the dimensions 60 x 60 cm. 


Submission Form and Fee

  • There is a non-refundable submission fee of £10 per work for standard entries.
  • When you return your form to us, your submission is only considered completed once the correct payment for your entry has been received. 
  • Your Application Form must be completed and submitted strictly in accordance with the instructions provided on the form and within these Terms and Conditions. Failure to do so will mean that any work submitted may be inadmissible and will be withdrawn from the selection process for the exhibition. 


Selection

  • The Selection Committee is formed of members of the AKA contemporary team. 
  • Selectors’ decisions are final and we are unable to offer feedback. 
  • If selected works arrive damaged, with unacceptable framing, size discrepancies from the original submission, or not as per supplied image, these will be rejected. All rejected artworks will need to be collected from AKA contemporary by the artist at their expense. 
  • AKA Fine Art Ltd reserves the right to withdraw a work from the exhibition if, for any reason, the work or any circumstances surrounding its display, appear to expose AKA Fine Art Ltd/AKA contemporary to potential or actual damage to its reputation, risk of legal proceedings or enforcement including, without limitation, the alleged breach of third party intellectual property rights. 
  • Both successful and unsuccessful candidates will be notified via email. 


Presentation of Work(s)

  • All two-dimensional works submitted must be framed or suitably prepared for display hanging. Perspex clip frames are not acceptable and will be rejected.
  • All artists are required to provide display fixings on the back of their work. 
  • AKA Fine Art Ltd has the right to reject works that cannot withstand professional hanging.


Delivery and Collection of Works 

  • Artists are responsible for the full costs of the delivery and collection of their works. 
  • All works must be unpacked before they are handed over to the AKA contemporary team and all packaging must be taken away at the point of delivery. We are unable to wrap works or provide wrapping materials for any works being collected. 
  • If you are unable to deliver or collect your work in person, we can accept works that are delivered by commercial couriers e.g. Royal Mail/Evri/DHL/UPS and  specific art couriers. However, they must deliver between the gallery opening times. We cannot accept works delivered outside these times. AKA Fine Art Ltd is not responsible for works delivered outside gallery opening hours. Please ensure you have your work insured before sending.
  • Artists sending work from abroad should use a professional art carrier. 
  • AKA Fine Art Ltd will provide selected artists with specific delivery and collection dates. Any works delivered outside of this will not be accepted. 
  • If any work has not been collected by the final collection date, AKA Fine Art Ltd will charge a fee of £5 per day per work. This charge will be payable by the person collecting the work.
  • If the work has not been collected within three months of the final collection date, the work will be deemed to have been abandoned such that AKA Fine Art Ltd shall be entitled, without notifying you, to sell or otherwise dispose of such work. 
  • No work that has been accepted and displayed at the exhibition may be removed prior to the close of the exhibition. 
  • If you are unable to deliver or collect your work in person, the following art couriers may be able to do so on your behalf (we do not accept any liability for their services):

Sales 

  • All work must be for sale. 
  • All prices stated on the Application Form must include AKA Fine Art Ltd/AKA contemporary’s commission of 50%.
  • Once a work has been submitted, any sale made by the gallery before or during the course of the exhibition shall take precedence and supersede one made privately. 
  • Any private sale will incur the normal commission. 
  • The price provided is the selling price and is the price that the work must be sold at. 
  • This price can only be changed by prior written agreement between the gallery and the artist of the relevant work. The gallery reserves the right to query the price of works. 


Liability and Indemnity

  • AKA Fine Art Ltd is not responsible for any loss of, or any damage to, works entrusted to them. All goods are at the artist’s risk absolutely and the gallery and/or their agents exclude all liability to the maximum extent permitted by law. 
  • You must ensure that each submitted work conforms to all applicable health and safety standards and regulations. 
  • By submitting your work, you confirm that each work is in a condition to withstand the normal rigours of handling and display at AKA contemporary. 


Winter Exhibition Schedule 2024 - 2025

Please note that dates may be subject to change. Selected artists will be notified of any changes made. 

  • Submission Open: 2nd September 2024
  • Submission Closes: 11:59pm 26th October 2024.
  • Selection Results Announced: Saturday 16th November 2024. All applicants will be notified. 
  • Delivery Dates: Selected artists will be invited to deliver on 6th or 7th December 2024 between 11:00am and 5:00pm 
  • Private View: Friday 13th December from 6:00pm 
  • Exhibition Dates: Friday 13th December 2024  – Saturday 1st March 2025
  • Closed for Christmas and New Year's holidays between 23rd of December and 6th of January; Re-opening on the 7th of January
  • Collection Dates: 1st March between 4:00pm and 6:00pm, 4th and 5th March between 11am and 5pm.
