Through a unique and engaging variety of works, AKA contemporary directors Alison Porter and Kevin Youngman promote their own collection under the name Young Porter-Man. In an exploration of abstraction throughout the last century, this exhibition enables the viewer to develop an understanding of the nuances and progressions in modern and contemporary art.
Young Porter-Man honours the revolutionary ideology of the early 20th-century avant-garde artists who were working in the same artistic circles in 1930s Paris, selecting works by Jean (Hans) Arp, Paule Vézelay, and William Hayter, contrasting them with later 20th-century contemporaries like Jeff Lowe and John Hoyland, and a younger generation of 21st-century artists Penfold (Tim Gresham) and Mr Clever.
This exhibition allows us to explore the direct evolution and discourse between artists of different generations.
