Samuel Hencher is an award-winning artist, born in Newcastle, currently based in Cambridgeshire.

His medium of choice is watercolor and oils. He paints landscapes and figurative art and is inspired by the light and mood in the British cities and the sense of peace in the rural areas that surrounds them.

HIs solo exhibition 'Cityscapes' in AKA contemporary Cambridge is displaying Hencher's deep exploration of the charming and most scenic views of Cambridge, Saffron Walden, London.

His landscapes have a cinematic feel to them, exuding the painter's masterful sense of light and composition. His traditional techniques are especially effective in combination with his modern take on the ever-inspiring genre of landscapes.

'I paint very quickly without the aid of photos as reference - using sketches made in situ and memory to achieve a looser, less laboured effect - my aim being to convey a feeling or emotion that the viewer can relate to without worrying too much about the actual subject of the painting'
